FAN THE FLAME

Acts 9:3-9 “Now get up and go into the city and you will be told what you must do.”

Movement always precedes salvation, healing, and deliverance.
If you just move, I will show you something miraculous. Simply take the first step.
I don’t need the blueprint… Lord, just use me.
God is calling us out for his glory. To do this we need to move and operate by faith.

2 Timothy 1:4-5 Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

We must handle the unqualified moments. We must surrender the things in which we feel unqualified. We need to handle our issues before we can pour out to others.

2 Corinthians 2:14-16 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.  For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.  To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?

Even Paul had unqualified moments but we need to rebuke them quickly.

2 Corinthians 3:5 Now that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Paul was unqualified to lead a nation, yet God used him.

2 Timothy 1:5-14 For this reason fan into flames the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord…

You’ve received the gift. Now you must discern the call.

  1. Development - In order to operate in your gift and discern your calling, you must begin the development process. Develop your spiritual muscles.
  2. Obedience - God is asking for obedience even if we don’t know the blueprint.
  3. Reverence - Have reverence for the gift that you have. It looks like gratefulness.
  4. Accountability - Doing life together. When one is struggling with something, we are serving one another.
  5. Humility - Father, it is all of you and none of me.

Fan the flame with the Spirit of God that lives in us!
