Made for More: The Word of Wisdom

Word of Wisdom: A supernatural revelation or insight into the divine will and purpose, showing how to solve any issue that may arise.

  • A sign at the fork in the road (giving an option on which way to go)

  • A phrase or word from Jesus Christ to you.

  • It's classified as 1 of the 3 gifts of revelations.

  • It has the ability to reveal something that is not known to an individual.

  • Can be communicated and often confused with prophecy.

Words of Wisdom Vs. Prophecy

Words of wisdom- Gives choices and you can see the outcome

Prophecy- There is no choice

Jeremiah 18:1-11

"This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the LORD came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the LORD. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it. “Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘This is what the LORD says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.’"

In the scripture, the word of wisdom is shown in 3 different ways.

  1. Directional: Will give direction, Jeremiah was told to go to the potter's house and I have a word for you.

  2. Warning: God told Jeremiah to tell Jerusalem he will destroy them unless they turn to him.

  3. Imagery: Jeremiah was shown the creation of how you have a choice

1 Kings 3:16-28

"Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. One of them said, “Pardon me, my lord. This woman and I live in the same house, and I had a baby while she was there with me. The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two of us. “During the night this woman’s son died because she lay on him. So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast. The next morning, I got up to nurse my son—and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I saw that it wasn’t the son I had borne.” The other woman said, “No! The living one is my son; the dead one is yours.”

Wisdom Nuggets

  1. It is a gift but does not substitute your responsibility to acquire understanding. (Proverbs 4:7)

  2. Begins with the fear of the Lord. (Proverbs 9:10)

We must never start flowing in our gifts until we submit our life to God, become trained, and gain more knowledge. We must learn our gifts and use them wisely because if we do not, someone else's blood can be on our hands and God will hold us accountable for them.

    3. Two ways to endeavor after the Gift of The Word of Wisdom

  • Ask the Holy Spirit (James 1:5)

  • Read Proverbs and Ecclesiastes (filled with wisdom and knowledge and also shows us how to use them.)
